TGIF! Flashback Friday!

Between IEP meetings, evaluations, writing reports, screenings, therapy sessions, finishing my inquiry project, and scheduling new students (yes, THREE new students with 12 days of school left!), I have hardly had time to breathe!

This week my language groups read Calvin Can't Fly: The Story of a Bookworm Birdie by Jennifer Berne. Calvin comes from a huge family and is very different from his brothers, sisters, and cousins. While they learn to fly, Calvin is busy burying his beak in books! When it's time to migrate, Calvin realizes that not being able to fly is quite the problem. However, his brothers, sisters, and cousins help him "fly" temporarily. On their flight south, they encounter a hurricane, and Calvin is the only bird who can save the day! This book would be perfect to read in the beginning of the year, which is what I plan on doing next school year!

This book is extremely cute and full of great vocabulary! All of my students loved the story, and they were creative when it came time to do their activity! They each made their own story about what they can't do yet, but want to do someday. Here's what my PK students came up with:

Hope you all have a fabulous weekend!
